UNIT 1 ORGANIZATION

Section 1.1 Learning Management

With a virtual classroom, teachers can manage students’ learning anytime and anywhere. In this section, we will introduce you to Google Blogger, a tool that can be used to build a virtual classroom, where teachers can manage information and resources more efficiently and more effectively.

Section 1.2 Classroom Management

Compared to Learning Management that allows teachers to develop online learning content, Classroom Management helps teachers to facilitate students’ learning process. In this section, Google Classroom would be introduced as a fun and easy way to customize a successful classroom e-community.

UNIT 2 PRESENTATION

Section 2.1 In-Class Instruction

Although PowerPoint is more familiar to teachers in terms of its well-equipped presentation features, Google Slides is preferred instead because it is not only a cloud-based application, but also a platform that well integrates itself with Pear Deck (Section 4.1) and Google Forms (Section 4.2).

Section 2.2 Out-of-Class Instruction

Sometimes, teachers might need to present their instructional content outside the classroom for their flipped lessons, as opposed to traditional teaching. For this purpose, we introduce PowerPoint, less known for its capabilities to record a video, either screen casting or slide shows recording.

UNIT3 INTERACTION

Section 3.1 Teacher-Student Interaction

To learn English in an authentic context, it is extremely important for teachers to interact with their students in English. With Seesaw at hand, teachers could have access to a variety of fantastic features, such as creating, assigning, reviewing and sharing activities to interact with their students.

Section 3.2 Student-Student Interaction

Student to student interaction is also important for students to practice their English skills in an authentic way. To make it possible, here we introduce Padlet, a powerful application that encourages students to understand, communicate and collaborate in or across pairs, groups, teams and classes.

UNIT4 Evaluation

Section 4.1 Formative Assessment

Evaluation of this unit involves more than just tests and exams. It also concerns checking students’ understanding, monitoring their progress and reflecting on the teaching. In this section, Pear Deck is centered for its innovative integration of presentation and in-process assessment.

Section 4.2 Summative Assessment

Another approach to Evaluation of this unit is summative assessment, that is, to summarize students’ performance in English learning, as opposed to formative assessment mentioned in the previous section. Here we recommend Google Forms, a great tool for assessing students’ learning results.

UNIT5 Extension

Section 5.1 QR Codes

Any eResources teachers are about to learn from the past four units could be shared via a single QR Code, which is a handy tool for teachers to direct their students to the eResources they need.

Section 5.2 Mind Mapping

Here the focus would be shifted to Sketchboard, a mind mapping tool that supports countless language learning activities, such as organizing information, checking understanding, brainstorming ideas and collaborating on tasks.

Section 5.3 Audio Recording

Audios may surprise both teachers and students in many ways, so Online Voice Recorder, an online audio recorder is featured in this section. Teachers can use the tool to give audio instructions, provide audio feedback and more.
